Mezz Lab

A read-only lab for Mezzanine vault depositors.

What Mezz Lab is

What it shows. Mezzanine vault data in more depth than the app: projected APYs, the weekly payout cycle, what a strategy loss would mean for each tranche, and an address lookup for any wallet's positions.

Why it exists. It's where new ways of showing vault data get tried out. The ones depositors find useful may be built into the Mezzanine app.

What it isn't. A place to move money. It never asks you to connect a wallet or sign anything, and you can't deposit or withdraw here. Use app.mezz.finance for that.

Projected APY

How you're paid. Each epoch's yield is paid out over the following week. The Senior and Junior amounts are fixed at the report and shared by whoever holds each tranche while it pays out, so new deposits lower that tranche's rate.

What the app shows. A trailing 7-day APY: what the last week paid out, so it lags behind.

What we show. The latest reported payout, spread over today's balances, so you see its rate before the app catches up. The amount is fixed at the report, but the rate moves as people join or leave each tranche. It's not a guarantee of future payouts.

Unstaked mzUSD earns nothing itself, but it is deployed in the strategy and all of its yield goes to Senior and Junior. That multiplies the rate for everything staked. Every rate is APY, because yield compounds in the vault.

What each tranche earns, as APY

Why the app shows a lower number

Last epoch's yield ÷ the mzUSD that earned it
Last epoch's yield ÷ tranche capital today

Epoch Timeline

Where we are in the weekly cycle. Yield earned this week is reported near the end of it, held for a 24 hour veto, then paid out evenly over the next week. That lag is why the app's APY trails what the strategy is earning now.

Tranche Yield Curve

How the split changes each tranche's APY. Junior earns a risk premium on top of the base reward for taking losses first. When Junior is a small part of tranche capital that premium is shared by fewer people, so Junior's APR is high, and it falls as more capital moves into Junior. The marker shows today's split.

Tranche Split

Who takes a loss, and how much. All mzUSD is deployed, staked or not, so a strategy loss comes out of the whole pot: Junior first, then Senior, then unstaked mzUSD. Junior is a small buffer for a much larger pot, so a small strategy loss is a large loss for Junior. Drag the slider to see each tranche's share.
